100 years after nuclear war, New York city will start to look more like Siberia. Most of the surviving humans have moved down south where temperature are less extreme, leaving only the animals that can survive in below-zero temperatures (eg. wolves.)
Most of the buildings were completey destroyed by the blast, others (like the Empire State) were damaged by the shockwave, The New Yorkers were warned only 30 minutes before the explosion. Immediately chaos erupted.
Busses were toppled, the explosion went through the subway system and trains were sent through their concrete roofs.
